Celebrity Makeup Artist Shares Her Journey & How COVID-19 Has Impacted the Makeup Business

Updated: May 5, 2020

Mila Thomas, celebrity makeup artist, entrepreneur, and mogul shares her journey to becoming a professional makeup artist on this week's episode of the So Lux Life Podcast.

Thomas takes us on her amazing journey from being born and raised in North Carolina to becoming a professional makeup artist and mogul in LA.

While Thomas talks us through her hardships, teaches us how to handle defeat, and gives us tips on building a brand (20:00 minute mark) within the professional industry; she also shares how showing gratitude has taken her places and booked her certain celebrity clients that she would have never landed had she not been kind-- not only to those in prominent positions, but to everyone.

Thomas was named as one of Essence magazine’s “9 Black Celebrity Makeup Artists You Should Know”. Thomas is currently the key artist for Nicki Minaj, and has worked with other celebrity clients such as Angela Rye, Karrueche, Issa Rae, Niecy Nash, Ashanti, Jennifer Lewis, Jasmine Sanders, Cardi B, Tamron Hall, and the list continues.
